Engagement Sessions

I love to shoot engagement sessions. This is usually the first time that I get to capture my bride and groom clients. With that said, engagement sessions usually start out awkward and a bit uncomfortable. Here I am, this stranger, taking photos of you and your fiance in silly poses. Although, that is all the more reason to do them!

I feel when I get a chance to capture my clients in an engagement session, it breaks the ice. Yes, we are just meeting and yes it is awkward to pose in the middle of a park. BUT - once we start to get to know each other and I show you some poses that are easy and natural, I see my clients relax. I see it in their eyes. I know the very moment when my clients start to loosen up. From that point on it's jut a nice afternoon getting to know each  other as I shoot. By the time the wedding day comes you will know me and will know the poses that I call for. Then, in the end, you get these special portraits of the two of you in this very special time in your lives!!

Once you decide on doing the engagement session, you then need to think about location and wardrobe.

WARDROBE

Pinterest is a great place to search. Below is a link to my pinterest page on wardrobe selection.

engagement session attire

Do not be matchy matchy but create your wardrobe to match in style and hue.
for him - solid shirts, no plaid please
for her - dresses and flowy skirts are my favorite!
accessories like scarves, belts, boots add a nice flair.
You can bring two outfits, once casual and once dressy if you desire.

LOCATIONS

Locations in Newport - here are a few locations that I love around Newport. I will be doing another blog post about locations soon and will include photos to match.

Bellevue Ave is so nice with the grand  gates  and beautiful landscaping.
Ochre Court at Salve has both of these as well and then we can walk down to cliff walk for a few.
Beach is always nice and second and third beach are my favorite.
Sachuest Point is amazing at sunset with dunes, paths and water.
Ledge Road off of Bellevue is best for Rocks and water shots – this location can get windy.
Downtown Newport is fun with the cobblestone and shops.
Light Houses at Goat Island and Castle Hill is always fun.

I am always willing to travel and have traveled to Boston and NYC in the past few years.
